POST ABORTION AND PREGNANCY OPTIONS COUNSELING

I offer non-judgmental and confidential counseling for women who are pregnant and unsure what to do, women who have had abortions, and women who have placed a child for adoption. Also, I provide counseling to partners, friends, and family involved in an abortion, adoption, or a pregnancy decision-making process. I see both individuals and couples.

POST ABORTION COUNSELING

You are not alone...
Though many women who have had abortions feel comfortable about their decisions, many need support with the emotions involved with this event. There are many reasons a woman may choose to have an abortion. Some women have said, "I'm not ready to be a parent," "I want to finish school," "I don't have the financial or emotional resources to have another child right now," or "My doctor told me this pregnancy has been diagnosed with fetal abnormalities." Whatever the reason, every woman has a right to make the choice that is best for her and her family.

Because every woman's experience is unique, the therapeutic process is different for each person. Whether your experience is recent or even if time has passed since your abortion, Post Abortion Counseling can help. I will help you identify and process your feelings to heal unresolved distress.

Support in your healing process allows you to:

  • Identify and discuss feelings.
  • Release negative feelings or distress.
  • Share with a neutral person what might be difficult to share with those close to you.
  • Grieve and understand feelings of loss.
  • Develop a deeper understanding of what led you to your present circumstances.
  • Communicate with others in your life about your experience.
  • You may also bring partners, friends or family to counseling session to discuss how to support each other in the healing process.

How can I support a woman who has had an abortion?
Often partners, friends, and family want to know how to help and want to get accurate information. We can talk together to discover what is supportive for the woman in your life. Also, we can discuss questions you may have about abortion and/or feelings about how a woman's decision has impacted you.

PREGNANCY OPTIONS COUNSELING

Are you pregnant and unsure what to do?
If you are having a hard time making a decision about your pregnancy, Pregnancy Options Counseling may assist you in discovering what option is right for you. Finding out you are unintentionally pregnant may cause you to feel confused, angry, overwhelmed, sad or anxious. For example, you may not feel comfortable telling anyone you are pregnant. Or, you and your partner may have chosen to keep it to yourselves until you have made a decsion.

In Pregnancy Options Counseling you we will talk about your decision-making process. We will go over each of the three options: parenting, abortion or adoption, and discuss each in how it relates to your unique situation. Along with discussion, I will provide you with exercises to facilitate the decision-making process. You can choose to come alone or with your partner/support person.
